My Outfits: Another Anime Convention 2012

Another Anime Convention, my favorite convention by far to attend, was a couple weeks ago in a new location in Manchester, New Hampshire. Originally, I was going to just go by myself, because even though I knew was going, I just love this convention so much! It is relatively small in comparison to something like Anime Boston and ConnectiCon, but it still has several thousand people that attend.

Caro roomed with me setting up a table in the Artist Alley for her items from her shop, Ophanim. My friend Brittany also roomed with me because we have a weird ongoing tradition of battling each other at karoake. This year, we ended up singing romantic songs to each other (I will get into that later ... it was a long 5 hours in the karoake room. I am pretty sure the guy running that panel was sick of us by the end of it).

Brittany and I
On Friday, Brittany and I received tickets from our friends to go to the Dragonfly Ball that they held. We had a great time learning how to waltz from our friend Bryan. A person proposed to someone at the ball - it was so sweet. I could not really see anything from my angle; I heard a lot of screaming and saw a girl crying happy tears.

Afterwards we went to one of my favorite panels, which is hentai dubbing (essentially, you get a microphone and you dub over an animated porn video). It was hilarious! I ended up seeing one of the memorable people that participated in my Geek Jeopardy panel at ConnectiCon. He was absolutely hilarious!

On Saturday and Sunday, I did two panels - "Lolita Fashion 101" and "Using Lolita Fashion Everyday". After the 101 panel, I held a very informal swap meet in the same room (which I think I am going to request for ConnectiCon for 2013 - it worked out really well!). I met a few really nice girls from the local area, and we had really good conversation.

I ended up picking out a Metamorphose cardigan from one of the girls who brought things. It was ironic because she mentioned she had gotten all black items in her lucky packs, which would have been the best if the roles were reversed.

Then, Brittany and I went up to karaoke, where Brittany sang me "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith, and I sang her "I Like It" by Foxy Shazam (check out the music video in this post - as a note, she thought the song's chorus was extremely fitting and hilarious). We had the whole room laughing. There was another group of guys who did really hilarious dramatic interpretive dance to their songs as well. We ended up staying in the karaoke room until 2:00 AM.

Exhausted and losing my voice from the shenanigans, I ran my second panel. The audience was great, asking great questions and really taking from the experience (I love interactive audiences).

Did any of you go to Another Anime Convention as well? What are your favorite conventions to go to?
