So I have to rely on others photos of my experience at the convention because I am so lame and did not take my own (even though I brought my expensive camera with me to take photos - ended up just losing the lens cap -___-).
Anyways, ConnectiCon 2012 was a wonderful experience for me. Sometimes I forget that I blog (I know that is weird, but it seriously happens), and I had so many people come up to me telling me how my blog inspired them or got them involved with the fashion. Or that my posts about being a bad ass and saying "F*CK YOU HATERS" got them motivated to be themselves (which are my favorite compliments! XD).
I ended up doing a very last minute Lolita 101: All About the Basics panel at ConnectiCon after a week notice. Luckily, it is a panel I have done before many times, so I had a lot of the material already set up. I just tweaked a few things here and there to update people on latest indie brands and such.
My dear friend Remi helped me out with the process sporting her usual quirky self. Best part of the panel was when I was talking about head pieces, saying how something on the head is usually warranted, and realizing that Remi had nothing on her head (lol), so I mentioned how Remi goes her own path and does not like to follow any kind of guidelines. She brought a lot of fun to the panel, and especially helped out with the Etsy question (which I have only bought maybe two things from).
Most likely the only true full outfit shot of me, I was wearing my latest item from Lady Sloth (who I am obsessed with now at this point - her stuff is awesome). Underneath I am wearing an Innocent World one piece from my bag of goodies from last week, and paired the outfit with some sensible tights from a local store, and a bow and a flower in my hair. My watch was especially fashionable, but I needed to keep track of time!
We had an over-packed room, and Rym from staff let me know that I was a shoe-in for next year in a larger room, so Remi, Caro, and I are planning big things for next year's ConnectiCon (Fashion Show perhaps?).
All in all, it was a great day! The next day at the convention I did Geek Jeopardy with my friend Rick, which you can see videos here of us having a grand old time. I warn you, it is not classy at all! XD I did not wear Lolita that day because I was not feeling well the day before (refer to line in previous paragraphs about almost fainting), so I just wore jeans and a light shirt. I tried to represent my Lolita-ness with my glasses though, which were pink with a giant bow (lol). I ended up calling myself Lady Trebek.

Did any of you go to ConnectiCon? How was your experiences? Or how about Comic Con? (because I know it was the same weekend!)

I also met a lovely lady who wrote a little review about the panel at her blog here. It was extremely sweet! I was very touched by it! It displays one of the reasons I do panels at conventions, in particular about Lolita Fashion - with so many negative stereotypes about Lolitas, I love being able to give a positive impression about our Lolita community to others. We are constantly muddling through the stereotypes of being "elitist" or "meanies". At least at a Lolita panel, I am able to show that you can be yourself - it is only clothes!
Afterwards, we had a big swap meet inside (because it was way too hot outside). One of my brand new Bodyline dresses went to a lovely lady trying out Lolita for the first time! I was so excited to be the one to give her her first dress! I think Caro ended up giving her a pair of her shoes as well, so she was on the road to getting all the basics she needed!

From a fellow local Lolita in our group |
We have a really great local group. We have a lot of new people to the fashion, but everyone is incredibly nice and friendly. I saw girls exchanging phone numbers and having a great time! Absolutely no issues whatsoever (except for the part where *right* before we started swapping I almost passed out - luckily Remi got me to the bathroom in time to hover on the toilet before I fainted ... -___- but I ended up being OK!).
I ended up trading items with Remi for yards of lace (which was her currency throughout the swap meet). Caro and I switched up for a lot of items, at least 6 or 7 things. We are about the same height so we tend to have the same length issues with items. Luckily she is smaller than me, so I took her bigger stuff and she took my smaller stuff. I also got a great handmade back bustle skirt from a local girl named Katharine.
