Lately I have been indulging in the indie brand scene, just because I love getting items exactly in my size and items that are different from what seems to be in every Lolita's closet. Also, as a Gothic/Classic Lolita, I find a lot more options this way in terms of prints.

So I wanted to feature a couple of designers that I have been following and/or have purchased from before that I think have fantastic stuff (and clearly not enough people know about them!). Check them out below!

On a side note: these designers are a great alternative to replicas, because most of the time they offer custom sizing and are relatively cheaper than brand dresses. So for those looking for something more within their budget, or something that will come out-of-the-box fitting you, these are fantastic options! (so do not say replicas are your only choice!).
If you went to my panel at ConnectiCon, you may have heard me going on and on about this Polish girl named "Lady Sloth". Next to Metamorphose, she is becoming my new favorite brand to buy from. She offers custom sizing, original prints, and low costs, with most of her skirts going between $40 USD - $60 USD, jumpers skirts going from $70 USD - $90 USD, and one pieces going from $120 USD - $140 USD.

You can also send her customization that you would like on the piece, in terms of style and design, and she will also do those for an extra price. She is also willing to do custom colors as well for a majority of her items, in particular her non-printed things.

I own her Cherubim skirt, and it was constantly being mistaken for something from Juliette et Justine. Her craftsmanship is superb and her choice is fabrics are soft and high quality. I plan on buying much more from her, and you should as well!

il Sangue's quality and craftmanship is great! Her work stands out for being comparable to brand quality. A lot of her items look and feel like they should be in a mainstream brand store. Also affordable, the work you will see with this designer will not break your wallet, but you will certainly look like you did. She offers skirts, one pieces, jumper skirts, and accessories through her Facebook page. That includes the adorable sailor skirt I included in the thumbnail above!

Talk about incredible - this girl's craftsmanship is also amazing! When I first saw her pieces, I thought they were from a brand like Innocent World or Mary Magdalene, but instead I find this small brand with not a lot of followers on Facebook pumping out these high quality, gorgeous dresses. In particular, the wine colored one piece I have in the thumbnail is just gorgeous. The details and work done to that piece is really fantastic.

Below is an all-together list of indie web shops that I have found on various sites, from EGL LiveJournal community posts to other websites. I cannot speak for each of them in terms of quality or good customer service, but these are the ones that I found. If you have purchased from any of these indie brands below, be sure to comment and let others know about their quality and/or service! If you are an indie brand/seamstress, please offer your link in the comments and I will add you to this list.
